Equipment

  • Ninja AF161 Max XL Air Fryer
  • Medium Bowl
  • Large Bowl
  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 lbs boneless/skinless chicken breast cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • lime Zest of 1 lime

Instructions

  • Start by tossing your bite-sized chicken pieces with avocado oil in a mixing bowl. As you coat the chicken, it should glisten and feel slick, indicating it is ready for seasoning. This step helps the spices stick later, so do not skip it!
  • Sprinkle cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lime zest over the chicken. Give it a good stir until every piece is coated in that colorful, aromatic spice mix. You want each bite to pack a punch, so be thorough, but watch for clumps of seasoning.
  • While the chicken is resting, turn your air fryer on to preheat. You will smell a bit of warmth and see it start heating up within minutes. Preheating ensures even cooking, so do not rush this part; it really helps with texture!
  • Place the seasoned chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket. The pieces should be snug but not overcrowded. This way, they will crisp up nicely. If they are piled on top of each other, you might end up with uneven cooking—nobody wants that!
  • Cook the chicken until golden brown and hot, which usually takes about twelve minutes. You will notice the aroma of spices wafting through the air. If they look pale or rubbery at the end, do not be surprised; a little extra time might be needed, but keep an eye to prevent drying out.
  • Once they are done, let the chicken cool for a moment before digging in. You will be greeted by that beautiful crispy exterior with juicy chicken inside. Skipping a moment to let them rest can lead to a mess, so be patient and enjoy those tasty bites!

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze for long-term storage, ensuring the chicken cools completely before freezing.
Use different oils like olive or vegetable oil if preferred.
Coat the chicken well to ensure flavor penetration.
