Air Fryer Chicken Breast Smoked Paprika
Enjoy perfectly seasoned and juicy chicken breasts cooked in an air fryer. This quick recipe is healthy and delicious!

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Meat thermometer
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts skinless, 4 ounces each | 113 grams each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (0.5 ounces | 15 milliliters)
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika (0.13 ounces | 6 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons cumin (0.13 ounces | 6 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (0.07 ounces | 3 grams)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (0.1 ounces | 2.5 grams)
  • ½ teaspoon pepper (0.1 ounces | 2.5 grams)

Instructions

  • Start by mixing the smoked paprika, cumin, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. The aroma of the spices will fill the air, giving you an idea of the flavor ahead. This blend is key to getting that nice smoky taste that really enhances the chicken.
  • Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken breasts, ensuring they’re evenly coated. This helps the spices stick and keeps the meat juicy. If you skip this step, your seasoning might just fall off while cooking.
  • Sprinkle your spice blend all over the chicken, rubbing it in gently. You'll want those flavors to really seep into the meat. Make sure to cover all sides, as missing spots can lead to some bites tasting bland.
  • Preheat your air fryer for a few minutes. You should feel a warm breeze as it heats up, signaling it's ready for the chicken. Giving it time to preheat can really help achieve that crispy exterior.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. You'll hear a subtle sizzle when they hit the hot air. This air circulation is crucial, as overcrowding can leave parts undercooked or not brown how you want them.
  • Set the timer for about eight minutes. You’ll want to check halfway through and give the chicken a flip for even browning. Walking away might lead to one side getting less color than you’d like.
  • Once the timer goes off, let the chicken rest for a few minutes. This step allows the juices to redistribute, making every bite tender and juicy. Skipping this can result in a dry bite, which we definitely want to avoid.
  • Slice into your chicken and relish the perfectly seasoned meat! It should look golden-brown outside and juicy inside. Share it with family or just enjoy a delicious meal at home.

Notes

Ensure each chicken breast sits at room temperature for about 15 minutes before frying for even cooking. Pound uneven chicken breasts to a uniform thickness to help them cook evenly and stay juicy. If there's still pink inside the chicken, using a meat thermometer is key; it should hit 165 degrees F for safety. When the chicken ends up dry, timing is crucial; check for doneness and let it rest afterward. If browning is less than expected, giving each piece some space in the air fryer makes all the difference.
